The Boys: Kimiko Lives On But Without Powers

The Boys Season 3 Episode 4 has thrown more curveballs at us than the entire last season. Everything seems to be going against the good guys, and there’s complete chaos all around.

Until Episode 3, Billy Butcher’s gang was chasing the Russian weapon that killed Soldier Boy. In Episode 4, we see them arrive at a military base, where an all-out battle goes down, but what comes next is quite unexpected. Instead of finding the weapon, they unlock Soldier Boy from a chamber.

He disconnects all tubes and wires from his body and steps out. The boys clearly don’t know what will happen next and are on high alert. Suddenly, Soldier Boy releases an uncontrollable energy blast from his chest.

While we don’t know if it was intentional, Frenchie would certainly have gotten hurt, but Kimiko dives to push him out of the way and gets hit by it instead. Kimiko has numerous superpowers, and one among them is regenerative healing.

However, this time, she isn’t healing and is bleeding out. So, does Kimiko die in The Boys Episode 4?

Kimiko is alive. However, she’s lost all her powers, including regenerative healing and the ability to lift heavy objects.

When Billy Butcher and the team broke into the Russian army facility, they hoped to find the weapon which killed Soldier Boy. Getting the weapon would mean they could kill Homelander as well.

However, instead of finding any heavy machinery equipment, they found Soldier Boy. We previously saw him in a flashback scene in Episode 3. He never had the power of releasing energy blasts but is able to do so now in Episode 4.

Episode 5 reveals that Soldier Boy was actually alive all this time and was being experimented upon by the Russians. Someone had given up the Payback leader for reasons we don’t know yet.

Soldier Boy’s energy blast seems to have had a terrible effect on Kimiko. She got directly hit with it, and her body cells stopped regenerating. The boys managed to get her to a hospital where she was recovering at the same pace as any human.

There were numerous clues that showed how she was still alive. According to IMDB, she will also appear in the next few episodes. In addition, the actress Karen Fukuhara who plays the supe, was among the many who appeared in the season 4 announcement video. This means she is likely to make it into the next season.

Throughout this season, she detested her powers and wished for a normal life. Now, she has got that and is pretty happy about it. In fact, she even started singing and dancing in her imagination with Frenchie and ended up kissing him. But, he’s now taken away by Nina, and we have to wait and find out what Kimiko and the boys do next.

About The Boys

The Boys is an American satirical superhero streaming television series developed by Eric Kripke for Prime Video. Based on the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, which was originally published by DC Comics under their Wildstorm imprint before moving to Dynamite Entertainment, it follows the eponymous team of vigilantes as they combat superpowered individuals who abuse their abilities.

The show is a satirical take on the superhero genre and showcases a world where superheroes are corporatized and controlled by companies. What happens when these superheroes step out of line and rub some boys the wrong way, is the story.
