New Images Show The Doctor’s Changed Look for Legend of the Sea Devils

Ahead of the premiere of Legend of the Sea Devils, BBC has shared some new stills and images of Doctor Who, revealing Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor in an updated costume as she travels to the past.

As the TARDIS will take the Doctor and her friends to 19th century China in the Doctor Who Special, her change of clothing from her usual robes to a Tang suit-inspired look makes her blend in with the place and period.

The Doctor will have to face a dreaded pirate queen and a colony of Sea Devils, back from the prehistoric period when they ruled the Earth during the dinosaurs’ times and want to take over once again.

However, The Doctor isn’t the only one who has changed her clothes to switch it up, Yazmin and co.’s costumes vary drastically as well.

Seeing how showrunner, Chris Chibnall, will also make his exit alongside Whittaker, it makes sense for the last of his specials to stand out and have a memorable impression.

Still, Whittaker’s not completely done with Doctor Who. Besides the special, her farewell will involve a Doctor Who podcast, called Doctor Who: Redacted.

The 10-part mini-series comes from BBC Sounds and focuses on Cleo Proctor, Abby McPhail, and Shawna Thompson, where they interact with Doctor Who regulars Rani Chandra, Kate Stewart, Petronella Osgood, Madame Vastra, and The Doctor.

Whittaker will voice the character for the podcast which will debut on April 17, the same day as the Legend of the Sea Devils spring special.

The face of the fourteenth doctor is a mystery but there have been rumours about Hugh Grant in talks for the role lately. But before that, the quality of Legend of the Sea Devils already stands out and the special will surely make for a grand exit.

Doctor Who: Legend of the Sea Devils is set to air on BBC on April 17, 2022.
