Spider-Man NWH: How Doc Ock and Electro Really Got Stark Tech Upgrades

SPOILERS AHEAD! This page contains spoilers from Spider-Man No Way Home.

It was earlier believed that both Doc Ock and Electro got their Stark tech upgrades with some good ole prowling and thieving. But Spider-Man: No Way Home left me so surprised with how giving them the tech was Peter’s idea in the first place!

Spider-Man Controls Doc Ock’s Red Tentacles

I have a lot of favorite bits about the movie, and one that tops my list is Peter and Doc Ock’s bridge fight that left everyone in splits. But the cleverest ploy was having Doc Ock trapping Peter and stealing his nanotech from the Spidey suit.

The Stark tech quickly assimilates into Doc Ock’s tentacles, making it a vibrant red that we’ve seen in most trailers. This is the moment the thought “we’re done for!” rings aloud.

Except, Peter is a step ahead — He pairs the stolen nanotech with his own suit’s AI and is now able to control Doc Ock’s tentacles remotely. This does well to both incapacitate Doc and ensue some more hilarious moments.

Peter Uses the Stark Arc Reactor to Cure Electro

Technically, Electro did steal the Stark arc reactor. But it did not start out that way.

Peter believed that all the “villains” only went down the wrong path due to unfortunate circumstances, a lot of which arose due to faulty tech. In Electro’s example, his main qualm was that he never felt at home with his power and the discomfort made him feel like more of a nobody.

So, Peter decides to use the arc reactor to create a stabilizer that could contain all of Electro’s electricity when he didn’t want to use it.

This would allow him to look and function like a normal human the rest of the time and give him a better grip over his powers.

Sadly, Electro’s own insecurities and encouragement from Green Goblin’s darker side make him rip out the stabilizer before it can even work. Instead, he steals the Stark arc reactor and becomes a force to reckon with.

But all’s well that ends well… Well, at least for Doc Ock and Electro, who finally receive the right repairs, nullifying the need for any additional Stark tech.

I can only kick it back with the reassurance that somewhere back in their universes, they’re doing better than before.
