PINE JAM’s artsy anime Do It Yourself!! is ready to charm us with its cute animation, adorable characters, and unique plot.
The anime is pretty much what the title sounds like. It is a tranquil story of six girls trying to work and excel on do-it-yourself or DIY projects. These projects involve anything from machinery to art and craft, the necessary factors being creativity and making it all by yourself.
Slice-of-life stories like these often consist of protagonists with distinctive personalities that we can relate to, and this anime is no different.
Do It Yourself!! anime’s first protagonist is the easy-going girl, Serufu Yua. She grew up in a house with few rules, which allowed her complete freedom to experiment, resulting in her being covered in bandaids at all times.
Serufu’s character promo video starts by showing a hardware workshop that’s full of various machinery. The high schooler spends most of her time here, and you can catch her thinking about it when she’s not in her workshop.
Besides being a hardware freak, Serufu is a big airhead and often gets hurt because she’s lost in her work. On the contrary, her childhood friend Purin is a responsible student at an elite school.
Purin is a hardworking high schooler and strives to be at the top of her grade. However, she is frequently seeking Serufu’s help when it comes to DIY projects.
The teaser shows Purin’s short temper and quickly loses her cool over tiny matters. I guess that’s the price you pay for being uptight.
Other such eccentric characters from the anime include the DIY club’s president Kurei, the shy girl Takumi, Purin’s free-spirited classmate Shii, and the brilliant 12-year-old Jabko.

A good cast lineup makes for a good anime, so I think we can expect this one to be fantastic.
Moreover, Crunchyroll will stream the anime’s first episode during its expo on August 5-7, and Shinjuku Wald 9 will hold a premiere of episodes 1-2 on September 18, 2022. I hope you have your passes ready for both.

Do It Yourself is an original anime series by studio PINE JAM. Kazuhiro Yoneda is directing the anime, and Kazuyuki Fudeyasu is penning down the series script.
The anime will follow the daily adventures of Purin and her five school friends who find joy in working on various DIY projects. No matter how much they struggle or how many times they fail, they don’t give up and see the projects through to their end.
