Recently, Disney confirmed Moana is getting a live-action remake, but a few others are already in the works. For example, Disney confirmed that a live action of Lilo & Stitch was in development in February 2018 via THR, but there were no further updates for years. But now we finally have new information about the cast of the upcoming film, so let’s get to that!
THR reports that a new addition has been made to the growing cast of the Disney live-action. Most recently, the film added newcomer Sydney Elizabeth Agudong, which follows the trend of them adding up-and-coming stars to the project. Agudong will play Nani, Lilo‘s sister and guardian, in the film.
After the latest casting, the film now has five characters booked! Newcomer Maia Kealoha will join Agudong’s side to play Lilo, while Chris Sanders will voice the CGI stitch. Zach Galifianakis and Billy Magnussen have also been cast in unconfirmed roles, though I think the former might play Pleakley or Jumba.
Director, Dean Fleischer Camp, will be directing the live-action though other details about the plot and setting remain a mystery. The project‘s filming has already begun in Oahu, and once it is ready for release, the Disney film will directly land on the streaming platform. No theatrical releases have been greenlighted yet.
The current cast is a mix of veteran and new actors, so it will be interesting to see which trend the rest of the cast additions follow. Will Lilo & Stitch keep choosing new talent or stick with influential names in Hollywood to build their cast?

Lilo & Stitch is an upcoming live-action remake of the 2002 animated film of the same name. Dean Fleischer Camp is directing the film, written by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright, Dean DeBlois, and Chris Sanders for Disney.
The film will follow the same story as the Disney animated film – Lilo adopts a ‘dog’ from the local pound, completely unaware that it’s supposedly a dangerous scientific experiment that’s taken refuge on Earth and is now hiding from its creator and those who see it as a menace.
The cast includes Maia Kealoha, Sydney Agudong, Chris Sanders, Billy Magnussen, and Zach Galifianakis. No release date has been set yet.
