Disney Hints that MCU’s X-Men Announcement Could Come Next Week

A new social media post from Disney sparked speculation that an X-Men announcement for the MCU is coming up next week.

Marvel Studios gained the X-Men movie rights in 2019, after Disney acquired 20th Century Fox. The films in the X-Men series, including the Fantastic Four films, were rebranded as Marvel Legacy Movies on Disney+ in October 2020.

For the last three years, there have been numerous theories and rumors about how the X-Men will join the MCU. However, Marvel Studios is yet to make an announcement of an MCU X-Men reboot. The mutants are finally beginning to play an important role in the MCU in Phase 4.

The recently-aired Ms. Marvel finale revealed that Kamala Khan is a mutant. Fans also saw Patrick Stewart return as Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, the latest MCU series, also seemingly confirmed Wolverine’s existence within the MCU.

However, as of now, Marvel has officially announced only one project featuring an X-Men character. Ryan Reynolds will be returning as Deadpool in Deadpool 3.

Disney’s recent Twitter post has excited fans as it featured Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. It is being speculated that the MCU’s X-Men announcement could come as soon as next week.

In the much-discussed tweet, the official Disney+ account shared a gif featuring Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, to remind their followers that Disney+ Day is coming soon. The use of Wolverine’s gif has sparked curiosity, with fans speculating that an MCU announcement of an X-Men film could come on Disney+ Day on September 8, or during the D23 Expo 2022, which runs from September 9 to 11.

Check out the post below.

However, this assumption can prove to be completely wrong. The Disney+ social media team may have chosen the Wolverine gif simply because he has his six claws out, pointing at the number of days left before Disney+ Day arrives.

The earlier countdown post featured a character from Monsters, Inc. with seven fingers. So, it could be a part of the same pattern.

But there is no doubt an overwhelming amount of expectation for an MCU X-Men movie announcement. So, the social media team may have chosen Wolverine to garner extra interest in Disney+ Day or D23 Expo 2022.

If at all it happens, it is more probable for an X-Men announcement to come out during D23 than on Disney+ Day. However, in all probability, the announcement will not be something too big. The best outcome would be a trailer or a release date for X-Men’97.

Marvel already has a huge line-up of projects to look into and it is unlikely that they will make any big announcements about Fantastic Four now. The MCU X-Men announcements will eventually come, but it may not be so soon.
