Digimon‘s latest anime series, Digimon Ghost Game, has the whole fandom brimming with excitement. Recently the franchise dropped more info on the anime, giving us more insight into what it’s about.
The show is set in the near future, where an urban legend about ‘hologram ghosts’ is going around. Soon these rumors start to become concerning as more people witness these hologram ghosts online.
The protagonist, Hiro Amanokawa, stumbles upon a ‘Digivice’ from his father. Activating the Digivice resulted in him being able to see Digimon and getting partnered up with Gammamon.
Digimon Ghost Game anime revealed its first PV featuring the characters and their Digimon with some glimpses from the show.
The PV shows the unusual occurrences taking place more than usual and how these ghost Digimon are now targeting innocent humans.
It also features a mysterious Digimon with a hood and a hammer-like weapon. The Digimon is seen sending people into the Digimon realm.
Hiro and Gammamon have set on a quest to investigate this mystery of hologram ghosts Digimon that are happening around them. Soon, Ruri and Kiyoshiro join Hiro in his mission.
Ruri and Kiyoshiro also have their respective Digimon partners called Angoramon and Jellymon. Together, all of them strive to solve this mystery of the Digimon world and protect the people.
I have high hopes for the upcoming series as the plot, and the animation seems promising enough. The concept of ghost/hologram Digimon alone is so engaging and has never been picked up by the franchise before.
What do you think about the concept? Let us know your theories and views!
About Digimon Adventure (1999)
Digimon, short for “Digital Monsters,” is a Japanese media franchise offering toy pets, manga, anime, games, films, and even a trading card game. The franchise was created back in 1997 as a series of virtual pets, influenced by Tamagotchi/nano Giga Pet toys.
The franchise gained momentum with its first anime, Digimon Adventure, and an early video game, Digimon World, both of which were released in 1999.
Digimon, the series focuses on monsters like creatures, who inhabit a “Digital World,” a parallel universe that originated from Earth’s various communication networks. Digimon hatch from eggs called Digi-Eggs, and they go through Digivolution, which changes their appearance and increases their powers over time.
The effect of Digivolution, however, is not permanent. Digimon who have digivolved will find most of the time revert back to their previous form after a battle or if they are too weak to continue. Most of them can even speak.
