The newest cast member to join the mystery-comedy film Reunion is Dianne Doan.
Details on Reunion first came out early in August when Variety exclusively revealed that the project was greenlit and would start filming soon.
It is a fresh spin on the traditional school/college reunion plot, turning the awkward comedy into an Agatha Christie-esque mystery. A murder takes place during a high school reunion, and with a snowstorm trapping all the guests inside the isolated mansion, there is nothing else to do than find the killer… before they strike again.
Doan will be accompanied by a star-studded cast of Lil Rel Howery, Billy Magnussen, Jillian Bell, Nina Dobrev, Jamie Chung, Michael Hitchcock, and Chace Crawford. No specific character details have been tied to the cast members, including Doan.
Chris Nelson, known for The Perfect Date, will be directing, along with a screenplay by Jake Emmanuel and Willie Block. On the production side, we have Artists Road, which is a joint venture by Spyglass Media Group, Propagate Content, Artists First Inc, and Off-Road Productions.
While the movie has no set release date, word is that filming is currently taking place in Los Angeles, which means we can expect Reunion sometime in 2022.
Doan herself is an actor on the rise after initially gaining fame as Lonnie in the Descendants franchise.
She also currently stars as Mai Ling in Warrior, a martial arts crime drama based on a concept by Bruce Lee and now executively produced by his daughter Shannon Lee. In 2020, Doan joined Agents of Shield in its seventh season in the recurring role of Kora, Jiaying’s Inhuman daughter.
Although Doan has starred in many projects before, this may be her first big transition to the silver screen. After seeing her previous work, I’m excited about Doan’s involvement in this film. Fingers crossed for more Reunion details coming out soon!
