Diamond no Ace Act II Chapter 284: Release Date, Delay, Discussion

Chapter 283 of Diamond no Ace Act II, titled “The Team I Admire,” was the manga’s latest installment.

The spotlight is on Zono this time. His safety squeeze play is successful, and by taking advantage of Inajitsu’s momentary loose defenses, he scores a second run for Seidou. This lifts the team’s spirits as they rejoice after gaining a lead.

Mei, on the other hand, is devastated. He gathers everyone and asks them not to lose focus, even for a second. The next batter, Furuya, will pose a greater challenge to them since he can hit a home run.

Can Mei pull through safely, or will Furuya add another insult to Inajitsu’s injury? We’ll find out in the next chapter.

1. Chapter 284 Discussions and Predictions

After Seidou succeeded in executing two bunts, the game got more exciting. The sixth inning is still ongoing, and everyone is expecting Furuya to hit a home run. Mei’s first pitch against Furuya was a fastball, but I think that the batter is well equipped to counter Inajitsu’s ace.

Also, Sawamura still hasn’t made an entrance in the game, which is frustrating since we haven’t seen him play in this match.

I guess that Sawamura will come in the next inning, and Furuya will move to the left field. I really hope that we get to see Seidou’s ace shine again.

5. Chapter 283 Recap

The chapter resumes with Zono’s batting as he thinks about the first time he came to Seidou. He was a dumb kid, clueless about how the world worked. A flashback shows us that one of Zono’s old friends from Osaka had an acquaintance in Seidou who introduced him to the school’s baseball team.

Not a single famous school in Kansai invited him to join their teams, and yet he was under the impression that his skills would somehow make a difference in Tokyo. As we cut back to the present, he mocks himself for thinking like that.

As Mei throws his next pitch, Zono manages a safety squeeze. Inajitsu tries to catch the ball as swiftly as possible, but Seidou seizes the lead.

Zono’s safety squeeze play takes advantage of the momentary lapse in Inajitsu’s defenses. The crowd cheers as Seidou manages to wrestle a second run from Mei, the ace of his team.

Inajitsu takes a defense timeout and sends a messenger to their captain, Fukuda. Meanwhile, the audience discusses how Seidou scored another run in no time at all and that too, with only one out. They also noticed that this was the first time in this tournament when Inajitsu had the lead taken on them.

It’s the top of the sixth, with one out and runners on first and second. The next batter is Furuya, who is expected to hit a home run. Inajitsu cannot afford to let their guard down even for a moment.

The tension rises as everyone anticipates the matches’ outcome. Either Mei will pull through safely, or Furuya will add another run to Seidou’s score. Furuya takes his batting stance and thinks that he cannot let himself be left behind.

The first pitch is a past ball to the inside. Inajitsu’s confidence shoots up as they cheer Mei for his excellent pitch. Furuya, however, isn’t fazed at all. The chapter ends with Furuya’s determined eyes fixed on Mei’s next throw.
