Demo for Stellar Blade accidentally leaked on PSN store, promptly taken down

Summary

  • Developers Shift Up had accidentally released the demo for Stellar Blade, a PS5 exclusive, on the PSN store.
  • Players had flocked to download the demo, showing how hotly anticipated the title is.
  • The demo was taken down within an hour, suggesting that this was a mishap and not a shadow-drop.

Project Eve was the Codename for Stellar Blade when it was announced in 2021. Players were attracted to the character design and the promising visuals showcasing the title.

A demo for Stellar Blade was accidentally made online on the North American PlayStation Store on March 9th. It seemed at first that the demo was a shadow-drop a month ahead of the official release, but the prompt removal of the download and delisting of Stellar Blade from the PSN store suggests that this might have been an accident.

The official release date of April 26th is over a month away, and this clearly can be marked as a one-off accident. Soon after this, a lot of players flocked to the PSN store in an attempt to download the title.

However, all that remains now is the regular Stellar Blade pre-order page. The primary reason for the excitement surrounding this title is the stellar visuals.

Initially named Project Eve, players loved the character design of the protagonist, Eve. The gameplay, which was revealed after the character reveal of Eve, wowed the fans just as much, if not more.

Stellar Blade - New Gameplay Overview | PS5 Games

The gameplay has high-quality visuals and smooth combat gameplay, something a lot of popular titles like Call of Duty and Counter-Strike lack. The gameplay is reminiscent of Bayonetta, wherein there is scope for creativity and buttery-smooth combat, even with the most challenging foes.

Players’ speed must not be underestimated since many players have downloaded the demo, streamed it on Twitch, and posted clips on YouTube.

The Twitch streams were taken down, and the YouTube clips are probably currently being zeroed down. Sony takes its copyrights very seriously, and it can be expected that they will shut down all avenues of leaks in the buildup to the release.

The brief episode is enough for developers Shift Up to know that a huge fanbase is ready to pounce on the title. The release date for the demo has not yet been announced, but it can be expected soon, given the title release in a little over a month.

About Stellar Blade

Stellar Blade is an upcoming action-adventure game developed by Shift Up and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is scheduled to be released for the PlayStation 5 on April 26, 2024.

Stellar Blade is played from a third-person perspective. Combat focuses on grasping enemies’ attack patterns and countering with precise timing. Eve’s Beta Gauge is filled by parrying and evading in combat. The Beta Gauge is spent to use skills such as piercing super armor and enemy combo interruption. Eve also has a Burst Gauge filled through successive parries and combos, which can be used to activate buffs and powerful attacks.

The game utilizes the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller’s haptic feedback to deliver feedback on enemy attacks and weapon accuracy. Exploration features wall scaling and swinging on ropes for environmental traversal, with things to be found, including extra costumes.

The overworld has NPCs who can provide Eve with side quests, with the option of either taking them on or ignoring them.[1] Scattered worldwide are supply camp checkpoints where the player will restore health and retrieve stored items. However, doing so respawns all Naytibas in the surrounding area, similar to the Meditation Circles in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
