DC’s Blue Beetle: Set Photos Reveal First Look At Costume

Blue Beetle is an upcoming DCEU project, starring Xolo Maridueña as the eponymous blue-blazoned titan. Blue Beetle follows the story of Jaime Reyes, a teenage boy, who one day uncovers the powers of an alien scarab, turning him into the titular hero.

The movie has been in talks for a while now with rumors of Jason Sudeikis joining the cast. It is also set to be the first major superhero motion picture headlined by a Latino character.

Aside from these reports, Blue Beetle has been announced to have a theatrical release in the summer of 2023 instead of its initially-planned HBO Max release.

Fans are finally getting their first look at DCEU’s newest hero and his costume.

Several set photos have surfaced from filming in Atlanta as principal photography is underway. JustJared (via @_MarvelMania_ on Twitter) has released clear shots of the teenage hero in the iconic blue costume, a year after its concept art was released at DC FanDome.

These shots show the character in what seems to be an action sequence, with and without the iconic helmet.

The costume has been designed by Mayes C. Rubeo, who has also worked on projects like WandaVision, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Thor: Ragnarok.

Although these are set photos, they look very close to the costume’s concept art. Since the filming is in its nascent stages, there is probably more to be revealed in the coming months, such as what the villains would look like, action pieces, and more.

With more than a year until its release, it will be exciting to see how Blue Beetle turns out, as Jaime is set to become a future DCEU hero.
