Charlie Cox Hopes Daredevil & Kingpin Will Meet Again in the MCU

When Charlie Cox returned to play the Man Without Fear in Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans were curious to know whether he’d cross paths with Vincent D’Onofrio again. The answer is very likely yes, says Cox.

If one is talking about Daredevil, the conversation can’t move ahead without mentioning Kingpin. It’s just not possible.

The actors who brought these characters to life fit their respective roles like the pieces of a puzzle, making Cox’s Matt Murdock/Daredevil the perfect superhero against D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk/Kingpin supervillain.

This made the No Way Home catch up all the more exciting, with promises of another reunion in the future.

While talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Cox shared his thoughts on this matter, revealing that the duo was far from done with each other.

Look, I don’t have any idea what anyone’s plans are at this stage, but I presume there’s more for us to do. I know a little bit — not a huge amount — but a little bit. I am imagining, I am hoping, that our worlds will collide again because the stuff we’ve done in the past was tremendous fun to do, and he’s such an incredible actor. We have to start every conversation with, ‘What do you know?’ because you have to be careful. It’s really exciting.

We last saw the duo in Netflix’s Daredevil season 3, which was abruptly canceled in 2018, despite fans rallying to get it renewed. Cox was touched by how vocal fans were about it and saw his NWH cameo as a second chance.

It’s a big moment, not just for me, but for the character. I felt a real sense of responsibility. If that scene works, if it’s cool, if it seems in place, then the sky’s the limit where this could go. And it would be great for me, naturally, but it would be great for Matt. I feel attached to him, even though that sounds a bit strange.

Cox revealed that D’Onofrio told him that their time together wasn’t over, even before the show’s cancellation.

Kingpin met an uncertain fate in the Hawkeye finale. Even D’Onofrio doesn’t know the character’s future but has hopes to return.

With upcoming projects like Moon Knight, Blade, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the MCU might be pushing its PG-13 limits.

As MCU projects have started getting more darker and grimier, it’s difficult to imagine how Disney would be able to find a balance without making it R-rated.

Add Daredevil (and hopefully Punisher) to the mix, and it’s almost impossible to keep it family-friendly and violence-free without brutally sucking the life out of it.
