Curb Your Enthusiasm:Rumors of Show Ending with Season 12 Debunked

After producer Jon Hyman’s now-deleted tweet claiming that Curb Your Enthusiasm will be ending with its upcoming season 12, fans of the comedy sitcom faced great dismay. But now EP Jeff Schaffer comes along to save the day, confirming that the reports claiming the show’s end after the latest season are “greatly exaggerated.”

In an interview with Deadline, the show’s executive producer explained how “every season is the last season” and “it’s been this way forever.” Schaffer stated that with Larry David always thinking that “he’s never going to have another good idea,” these endings seem final, but “it’s business as usual” for now.

Curb Your Enthusiasm

Reports of our demise have been greatly exaggerated. We literally just finished shooting last week. So, yeah, we’re done. My first season was Season 5. And you know what the final episode of that season was called? ‘The End.’ Not ironically. That was 15 years ago. So every season is the last season. It’s been this way forever.

Larry’s put all the ideas he likes into the season. He’s the only one who thinks he’s never going to have another good idea. So, of course, he’s done for a while. But you know, usually, he goes out and has spirited encounters with the west side of Los Angeles, and then ideas come. So we’re in the same spot we’re always in. It’s just business as usual.

Schaffer’s comment about every season being the last season makes sense when you see what has happened in a few season finales of the HBO series. Back in 2005, the audience was sure the show would end after season 5, considering Larry David went to heaven after accepting Christianity. But he came right back to life after arguing with his guardian angels!

In 2011, the season 8 finale also seemed like the end when David and Leon departed for Paris after Larry’s public embarrassment. And for a while, it was done – only for it to return after a six-year hiatus with season 9 in 2017.

Till now, Larry David has always bounced back with new ideas that go over well enough to earn Emmy nominations. Season 12 finished shooting last week, so we can expect the show to return with its latest season sometime later this year. Let’s hope David can keep coming up with more hilarious scripts and Curb your Enthusiasm can carry on!
