Skipping a theatrical release, Kaley Cuoco and Pete Davidson’s romantic comedy Meet Cute will premiere on Peacock in September 2022.
The film stars The Big Bang Theory’s Cuoco and SNL’s Davidson in a rom-com set in the time loop genre. The film follows Sheila, born and brought up in Manhattan, who discovers a time machine hidden in a nail salon and uses it to relive her date with Gary in the hopes of perfecting it and finding her happily ever after.
The film is directed by Alex Lahmann and written by Noga Pnueli, and the film has been confirmed for an OTT release on Peacock on September 21, 2022.
The leading pair have never worked together in a film, so it will be interesting to see their chemistry on the screen. Davidson has seldom starred centric in a rom-com, so his fans are excited to see the comedian try his hand at romance while acing the comedy section of the upcoming film.
Meet Cute, of course, is not the only rom-com that has played with time loops. The 2013 film About Time, starring Rachel McAdams and Domhnall Gleeson, and the 2020 film Palm Springs starring Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti, have already tried the reversing-time-to-get-love tactic.
Hopefully, Meet Cute will add its name to the list of successful rom-coms with time loops.
