Crunchyroll started streaming City Hunter television anime last Thursday, 7th May and City Hunter 2 anime on Tuesday, 12th May.

Crunchy roll described City Hunter 2 as:

“Whether he’s hired as a bodyguard or troubleshooter, Ryo Saeba, the legendary City Hunter, never misses his target. This volume memorably features several blasts from the past: A woman with a connection to Umibozu appears and she has a vendetta against him. Kaori’s late brother, Makimura, is accused by Interpol of smuggling drugs before his death. And Ryo teams up with an old colleague and rival, Robert, to protect a princess. Meanwhile, Ryo’s whole existence as the City Hunter is in jeopardy when a reporter/camerawoman seeks to feature the urban legend for a major story. All this and the usual mokkori hijinks!”

Discotek Media licensed the original City Hunter anime projects and the recent City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes film (released in February 2019) back in February 2019 and that was confirmed by Studio Sunrise in the Sakura-con panel.

Tsukasa Hojo’s City Hunter manga which debuted way back in 1985 has inspired four television anime series, three anime TV specials and four anime films, with City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes being the latest film.

The manga was loosely adapted as a Hong Kong live-action film back in 1993 starring Jackie Chan. The manga was also adapted into a Korean live-action TV series which premiered in 2011, and it was steamed in the US by Hulu.

Recently a French live-action film adaptation has also been opened in France somewhere in February 2019. A separate Chinese live-action Film adaptation has also been given a green signal in China.
