Crunchyroll Manga Services will Come to a Halt This December

Crunchyroll is making news frequently, and not always for good reasons. After the lawsuit issue, Crunchyroll has suffered significant losses for the settlement amount.

Now, they have decided to remove the manga app, and fans aren’t pleased with the decision. Here’s all there is to know about the situation.

Crunchyroll confirmed with ANN that its web and mobile app for its ‘Crunchyroll Manga’ digital manga distribution service will no longer be available after December 11.

Crunchyroll has stated to ANN that they would be sunsetting the Crunchyroll manga application on December 11 across the web and mobile as a part of Crunchyroll’s ongoing commitment to providing fans with the best experiences around their favorite series.

However, fans looking to discover new manga adventures can head over to the Crunchyroll Store, which now offers more than 17,000 manga across genres.

Fans can also enjoy other benefits of a Crunchyroll Mega Fan or Ultimate Fan membership, including Crunchyroll Game Vault, which includes a growing catalog of free-to-play titles across iOS and Android.

This plan did not seem to come out of nowhere as the company had already sent out an email to users stating, “Beginning November 7, 2023, digital manga will no longer be available on Crunchyroll.” But they seem to have pushed the date further as the service is still available.

Fans are not excited about this information and are emailing their concerns. Some fans have mailed the company asking how the removal of the app is contributing to a better user experience.

Crunchyroll answered by saying the following:

Through the website, you can browse all available Mangas by only logging in, which would not take up storage as it would by downloading the app.

While most of the fans are disappointed about this situation, some others believe that this change is better since the app has had no updates for a pretty long time. Axing it out was an inevitable thing for the company.

Though there are differing opinions on the situation, the decision has already been made, and we can do little about the situation.
