Phineas and Ferb Creator Gives Exciting Update About the Show After Long Hiatus

Dan Povenmire has recently shared some thrilling news about the return of the iconic Phineas and Ferb animated series. We saw the duo for the first time on Disney in August 2007, and the show quickly became one of the company’s greatest hits, earning three Primetime Emmy Awards in 2011 and 2012.

Despite concluding after its fourth season in 2015, it was revealed in January that 40 new episodes had been commissioned. The original creators, Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh confirmed that they would be returning once again as executive producers.

In a TikTok video shared by Povenmire, the creator announced that production on the Phineas and Ferb revival officially started on May 3.

Povenmire expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming project but also mentioned the challenges of working simultaneously on it and Hamster and Gretel season 2. The good news is that he assured the fans that the WGA strike would not hinder production in any way. See what Povenmire said in the quotes below:

So, today is the first day of our new Phineas writers room, and this morning, after months of very thoughtful conversations about how I can delegate and how I can schedule so that I can run both shows (Hamster & Gretel) without it completely destroying me, my usually very reserved producer Brandy texted me this. [“LET’S DO THIS DOUBLE SHOW CRAZY S—T!!!! WOO HOO!!!!”] Yeah, let’s do this, let’s go!

Although it has not been officially confirmed, Vincent Martella, the original voice actor for Phineas, has been hinting at his return to the series since August 2022.

Martella and Povenmire have yet to disclose much about the content of the new series, but Disney has stated that the new Phineas and Ferb series will consist of at least 40 episodes over two seasons, with the potential for additional renewals. Currently, it is also unknown whether Phineas and Ferb will be available to stream on Disney+ or not.

In response to a comment on his video, Povenmire hinted that the new Phineas and Ferb series will feature episodes set in different time periods, including the characters’ teenage years.

It is uncertain what the storyline of the new seasons will be and whether they will differ significantly from classic Phineas and Ferb episodes, but many iconic characters will reprise their roles.

The director also revealed in January that Perry the Platypus and Dr. Doofenshmirtz would be making a much-anticipated comeback.

Although it has been eight years since the conclusion of Phineas and Ferb, the return of Povenmire and Marsh to the project is a really promising development.

Povenmire has mentioned that the writing team is new, but having the original creators closely involved will undoubtedly ensure that the essence of the series remains unchanged, even after nearly a decade.

While there is no information on when the new episodes of Phineas and Ferb will be released, the fact that the writers are not impacted by the WGA strike should mean that they will arrive within a few years at max!
