Valve to Feature Reworked Inferno Map in Upcoming Counter-Strike 2

Counter-Strike 2 surely came as a surprise for everyone, especially since the fan-favorite Counter-Strike: Global Offensive seemed enough to keep players content. The title is yet to receive an official launch date, but it will be released in 2023 itself.

A Reddit post on the r/GlobalOffensive subreddit features leaked screenshots of the improvised version of Inferno in Counter-Strike 2. The most significant change is the A-site; players can now no longer hide behind the graveyard stairs, exposing them in a vulnerable position.

The A-site is one of the hardest areas to retake in a match. With the new changes, it will give enemies an upper hand with one less hiding place. This will cause players to rethink their game strategy.

The area formerly known as “construction” has now become “church”. Valve is using it as a prime example of the new lighting engine used in Counter-Strike 2. The difference will be eminent in the visuals with realistic materials, lighting and reflections.

The leaked screenshots have been data-mined from the latest update in Counter-Strike 2. This update replaced Mirage from the Closed Test map pool with Nuke and Office. As the release date comes closer, Valve is revealing maps to players one at a time.

While Valve is actively working on the Closed Test, Valve has been pretty quiet about the actual launch date. As per the tentative “Summer 2023” release date, which was announced when Counter-Strike 2 was officially revealed, the game could be launched any day now.

While another Counter-Strike title is just ahead of us, players are going back to CS:GO to revisit the nostalgic FPS game. Just after Counter-Strike 2 was revealed, CS:GO broke its own Steam player record, not once but multiple times. This just goes on to show how much the community enjoys the classic title.

About Counter-Strike 2

Counter-Strike 2 is a free-to-play, upcoming first-person shooter game developed and published by Valve Corporation. The game is the successor to the widely popular Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO), which was initially released as a premium game but later transitioned to a free-to-play model.

Valve has stated that Counter-Strike 2 will feature a range of new and improved features, including upgraded visual effects, improved lighting, and reduced input lag.

Additionally, players will be able to bring their entire inventory of items from CSGO to the new game. The new lighting effects, thanks to the new Source 2 engine, will be available to the older gears.

Counter-Strike 2 was released on September 27th, 2023.
