Call of Duty: Warzone will reach the end of life in September 2023

Call of Duty: Warzone has been one of the most popular titles since its launch in 2020. The Warzone: Caldera rename was done in November 2022 after the release of CoD: Warzone 2.0. Warzone 2.0 was subsequently renamed Warzone.

Recently, a blog post and a tweet by Activision Blizzard announced the discontinuation of Warzone: Caldera on September 21st, 2023. The blog also mentioned that the Caldera Gameplay, player progression, inventories and online services would expire on September 21st.

The developers clarified that purchased content in Caldera would continue to be available. This also applies to the titles of Modern Warfare 2019, Black Ops Cold War or Vanguard.

Activision Blizzard cited the reason for discontinuation as the developing team had to shift focus to the current Warzone, aka Warzone 2.0’s free-to-play experience.

The developers are urging players to jump ships to the newer Warzone. There are many gameplay choices across the three Battle Royale maps, including upcoming Season 4’s Vondel and Ranked Play.

The DMZ Beta will feature five different extraction zone. Amongst other updates, one notable mention was the BlackCell Offerings.

As for the future, Activision Blizzard mentioned that gamers should prepare more content across all platforms. They announced a new era of Battle Royale on the go with the launch of CoD: Warzone Mobile.

The Call Of Duty: Warzone Mobile would include shared Battle Pass and cross-progression. More details are being awaited on this exciting cross-platform venture by Activision, which is ambitious and promising.

For those with lingering doubts about the current Warzone gameplay, the developers clarified that this discontinuation would not affect other titles.

The gameplay for Warzone will continue as usual, along with no changes to inventory or player progression across all available maps.

Good content is just around the corner for Call of Duty fans, with Modern Warfare releasing later this year. An official announcement is due, but that doesn’t stop the rumors and leaks from hyping the fanbase.
