Cocaine Bear’s Ending is a Win-Win Situation for Everyone!

When you start Cocaine Bear, you’re not prepared for the sheer amount of stories this film is about to depict. Right from stranded hikers to lost kids to smugglers trying to appease their bosses, Cocaine Bear captures it all — all with a bear, high on drugs, running on a rampage.

It’s clear that the main showdown in the film is between the bear and the humans it comes across, making all of us wonder if the main characters will make it out alive or not. So what happens at the end?

At the end of Cocaine Bear, Syd is adamant about retrieving the cocaine stash from the bear’s cave. This distracts the bear enough to allow Sari, Henry, Dee Dee, Daveed, and Eddie to escape and make it to safety.

So the primary question that folks have while watching Cocaine Bear is whether the bear wins or the people. This feels like a win-win situation because the main characters don’t die, while mama bear and her cubs are seen happily frolicking at the end of the film, waiting for their next victims.

Does Sari reunite with Dee Dee?

Sari and Henry finally find Dee Dee in a cave with the bear’s cubs. They make it out alive by jumping into the river behind the cave and swimming to safety.

So the ending culminates with Sari-Dee Dee and Eddie-David’s story colliding.

After a complete wild hunt, encountering the bear and its dismembered victims, Sari and Henry find Olaf — the hiker from the beginning of the movie. While sobbing, he tells them that the bear in fact has two baby cubs who live in a cave nearby and that could be where Dee Dee is hiding.

Thankfully, his tip turns out to be true, but sadly he himself doesn’t make it out alive as the bear prowls on him a second time. At the same time, Sari reunites with Dee Dee, the trio of smugglers also enter the cave, with the ferocious bear following close.

With the hullabaloo that ensues, Sari, Dee Dee, and Henry find out that the back of the cave leads to a river. They jump into it and swim out quickly while the bear is still preoccupied with Syd.

It all ends well for the mother-daughter duo who make up — As you may remember, Dee Dee ran away in the first place because she couldn’t get along with her mother. But Sari selflessly trying to rescue her mended their relationship once again.

Do Eddie and Daveed make it out alive?

Eddie and Daveed give up being smugglers and leave Syd alone to deal with the bear. They escape the bear by jumping into the river and swimming to safety with Sari, Henry, and Dee Dee.

Although Cocaine Bear is all about crass horror and gore, there are quite a few sentimental beats in this movie. Other than Sari and Dee Dee’s relationship, there’s an emotional lens thrown over Eddie and Daveed’s friendship as well.

Eddie got roped into the drug business after Syd leveraged his wife’s death. But by the end of the film, Eddie realizes it’s not worth getting eaten up by a bear — which also mends his relationship with Daveed, who had been maintaining a distance after Syd and Eddie’s new deal.

When they’re all in the cave, Syd makes an ill-thought attempt of retrieving the cocaine stash at the risk of being killed by the bear. He even holds everyone at gunpoint for the drugs. This is when Eddie thinks enough is enough and decides to pull Daveed and head to safety with Sari, Henry, and Dee Dee.

In true slasher fashion, Syd gets eaten up by the bear and her cubs. In the tiny epilogue, Eddie and Daveed make up, as the former reunites with his son.
