There’s nothing like meeting up with old friends, but a feeling that comes close is seeing familiar faces on a TV show you’ve loved since it began. Chuku Modu, who played Dr. Jared Kalu in The Good Doctor until season 2, is returning to season 6 of the ABC show. Dr. Kalu had started as one of the original residents under Dr. Melendez, alongside the main lead, Dr. Shaun Murphy, and Dr. Claire Browne.
But later he was fired for assaulting a doctor, who was revealed to have sexually assaulted Dr. Browne (Kalu’s girlfriend at the time), he moved on towards a better opportunity despite being welcomed back at St. Bonaventure.
Chuku Modu departed from the show on good terms, and since his other colleagues Antonia Thomas and Beau Garrett have stopped by in previous seasons of the TV series after their exit, it makes sense to see that Kalu will also return.
According to Deadline, the actor will join season 6 on episode 15, titled rightly as “Old Friends,” and will stay on for seven episodes. Since season 6 consists of 22 episodes, we can expect to see Modu’s character for the remainder of the season, making it a significant return!
Dr. Jared Kalu will return to St. Bonaventure alongside Shaun Murphy, arriving at the hospital that started his career with a billionaire patient in tow. Kalu’s return allows the show to reminisce about earlier seasons, provides fans with a nostalgic hit, and gives past characters a chance to showcase where they’ve been since we said goodbye.
Dr. Jared Kalu hadn’t parted ways with his colleagues with a smile, so it will be interesting to see how The Good Doctor will highlight his return and if the reunion will be a good or a bad one. The Good Doctor will return with new episodes every Monday, so stay tuned!
