Unlike our expectations, the episode was not Karuta-focused. However, nearing the season finale, this episode is everything we needed and more. Episodes 24, on the other hand, is going to be heart-wrenching for us, to say the very least.
1. Episode 24 Title and Release Date
Episode 24 titled “Kaze o Itami” will be released on Wednesday, March 25th, 2020, and will mark the end of season 3. The episode is expected to carry on from where things were left in episode 23, the aftermath of Taich’s exit from the club.

The next episode will be heart-wrenching to watch, for we will see the club function without Taichi!
We will get to see how Taichi’s exit will affect Chihaya and the others. We will also witness a new batch of entries into the Karuizawa club.
Will Chihaya realize her feelings for Taichi? Will we know Chihaya’s words that were drowned by the school bell? Is this the end of Taichi-Chihaya friendship? Who are the new members, and how will they change the course of the story?
The next episode holds the answer to these questions and more.
3. Plot of episode 23- “Like a boatsman adrift”
The episode was filled with laughter, nostalgia, and heartache. The unofficial Karuta tournament, Taichi Cup, begins with four Genpai matches with 12 teams of three. The prize for the winner was announced to be a kiss from Taichi. The tournament ends with a tie between Taichi and Chihaya; we bet the former wanted the latter to win (wink, wink).
Later in the episode, Taichi finally confessed his feelings to Chihaya. However, her response was drowned by the school bell. Defeated, Taichi exits the club on the day of club demonstration for new members.
The episode ends with Taichi placing a chaste kiss on Chihaya’s lips, leaving her stunned, and walking away from her.

Chihayafuru is a manga series written and illustrated by Yuki Suetsugu. Chihaya Ayase is a schoolgirl who has spent most of her life supporting her sister’s modeling career.
However, that changes when she meets a talented Karuta player, a boy named Arata Wataya. Arata believes that Chihaya has the potential to become a great Karuta player.
As Chihaya takes on a new dream of becoming Japan’s best Karuta player, she is soon separated from her Karuta playing friends as they grow up. Chihaya now strives to become the best Karuta player in the world and to one day be with Arata again.
