Charlize Theron Shares First Look as Cipher in Fast X with New Images

Just days after it was announced that Charlize Theron would return to her role of Cipher in Fast X, the actress has shared her character’s first look in new behind-the-scenes on-set images.

Theron first appeared as the cyberterrorist in 2017’s The Fate of the Furious, followed by F9, and now will return for the final installment in the Fast and Furious franchise.

The last fans saw Cipher, her attempts to sabotage Dom Toretto and his family failed again, and she escaped once again, remaining a looming threat over the crew.

Cipher’s plans to attack Dom are just as varied as her haircuts. In the new photos, Theron dons a bob cut, a little longer compared to her hair in F9. If this is any indication, it’d be safe to assume that Cipher’s return would take a few months in the storyline.

That’s not all; the pictures also have armed dummies lying on the ground, meaning that there will be bloodshed whenever she makes her return.

Fast X will be directed by Justin Lin. Alongside the main cast of Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Sung Kang, new additions include Jason Momoa, Daniela Melchior, and Brie Larson in mystery roles.

As Momoa is set to be the main villain, it’s unclear what role Cipher will play in the upcoming film. No matter whatever capacity Theron is in, Cipher is guaranteed to be a menace to Dom and co.

There are no other announcements regarding returning or new cast members so far. However, fans are expecting characters like Gal Gadot’s Gisele to return, along with other actors who have played short roles in the franchise throughout the years.

Vin Diesel

With the film going into production recently, Vin Diesel shared a video of the first week of filming, promising the beginning of an “epic” ending and the biggest film in the franchise so far.

F9 proved to be a hit for Universal at the 2021 box office, earning over $720 million worldwide, premiering amidst the ongoing pandemic threat.

As the final adventure for Toretto and his family will be split into two parts, Fast X is expected to tell the story of the first half of their last outing, with Fast & Furious 11 expected to pick up where it leaves off.

Fast X is currently set to premiere in theaters on May 19, 2023, followed by Fast & Furious 11, expected to release sometime in February 2024.
