In the 12th and the last episode of Cardfight!! Vanguard: overDress, Danji finally showed up after Tohya beat Yu-yu in the game and burnt the banner of the Wonder Hill.
Danji and Tohya had a cardfight, where, to everyone’s shock, Danji lost. After they woke up in a dark place, Danji told Tohya the meaning of his team’s name, ‘Blackout,’ and asked him to let the darkness absorb all his worries.
Danji opened his eyes and declared Tohya as the next leader of team Blackout as he will not be around anymore. In the end, everyone returns back to their everyday lives.

1. Episode 13 Preview & Speculation
Danji himself announced Tohya as his successor because he has to complete some job somewhere, indicating that we will most probably not see him in the next season.
But obviously, this isn’t the last we’ll see of him. Maybe he won’t return in season 2, but eventually, he’ll come back. We will definitely miss him and his bonding with the members in season 2, especially with Yu-yu and Megumi.
Considering that Danji recognized the sleeve design of the flag burners from Team Daybreak, and Mirei and another lady were using the same sleeves, it might be possible that Danji switched sides for whatever reason.

2. Episode 13 Release Date
Episode 13 of Cardfight!! Vanguard: overDress (2021) anime, titled ‘Night Attack on the Heavens,’ concluded Season 1 of the anime series.
Episode 13 will be released as a part of Season 2, which is slated to premiere in October 2021. We will update the article as soon as an official statement is released from the franchise.
3. Episode 12 Recap
After defeating Yu-yu in the match, Tohya finally sees Danji standing in front of him. Danji challenges him for a match. Since the amusement park suffers from a power cut, everyone lits their torch while Danji and Tohya start the much-awaited match.
Before starting, Danji tells Tohya that it was not just a banner that he burned but a soul he trampled on. He asks Tohya to fight with all he has got. Tohya starts the match with his Bastion attack card.
As the match gets intense, Tohya realizes that Danji is attacking two units at once, thus crumbling away his strongest card formation. As a result, Tohya loses his mind but decides not to give up.
Just when everyone thinks Tohya lost to Danji, Danji smiles, indicating that he’s the one who actually lost. Tohya cannot believe that he actually won.
The next moment, Tohya opens his eyes in the darkness. Danji comes towards him and punches him in the face. After fighting for some time, they both get exhausted and fall down.
As they lie down, a card coming through a ray of light from above grabs Tohya’s attention. He wonders what lies ahead. Danji asks Tohya to remain there for some time while explaining the meaning of their team’s name.
When Danji opens his eyes, he sees Tohya being unconscious and lying in his lap. Everyone screams to throw him out, but Danji shouts to stop. To everyone’s surprise, he even declares Tohya Ebata to take his place as the leader of the team blackout.
The following day, Yu-yu gives back the Vanguard card to Danji, but Danji tells him to keep it. Yu-yu then asks the reason he decided to make Tohya the leader. Danji replies that he would’ve made him the leader, but he is too young now.
After everything comes back to normal, all the members proceed with their daily lives. Tomari continues to catch perverts, while Zakusa doesn’t forget to collect the weekly cards. On the other hand, Masanori and Shinobu continue to burn the flags.
