Anthony Mackie has confirmed that the wings on the new Captain America suit are indeed made out of the Wakandan super alloy Vibranium. After almost five episodes of push and pull, Sam finally decided to take on the mantle bestowed upon him by Steve and was proclaimed the MCU’s next Captain America.
The Wakandans also gifted him a new suit which comes with a set of wings mimicking his Falcon persona. Mackie, who plays Sam Wilson, recently made an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, where he was asked about the wings’ design.

As a powerful element in the fictional universe, the Vibranium comes as a significant upgrade to the Captain America suit. Since it is a tough substance, the chances of breaking the wings, unlike Sam’s last pair, is nigh.
Furthermore, he can also use them for protecting himself as well as others, as he does in the final episode. Together with the iconic vibranium shield, Sam’s Captain America has now been set up as an even more formidable hero to look forward to.
By the end of the series, Sam finally accepts to walk in Steve’s footsteps and pick up the shield. After losing his Falcon wings in a battle, he is presented with a new suit that features the same star-spangled imagery as the old suit but foregoes the blue for white.
Considering that he could be venturing into another big adventure, prepping Sam with the new wings was perhaps a good decision taken by the MCU. Following the end of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier last week, a fourth Captain America movie has been announced by the franchise, and a second season could be in the works.
However, upon being asked about it, Mackie noted that he hasn’t been updated on it yet. But given the success of the Disney+ show and the positive reviews garnered from audiences, it shouldn’t come as a surprise if it gets renewed for a second run.
