Canadian Comedy Letterkenny Renewed for Season 9

There are 5,000 people in Letterkenny and all their problems are returning for a ninth season!

The quirky and edgy Canadian comedy series Letterkenny is returning for a ninth season within its four-year run on Crave and Hulu.

The comedy series which recently was added to the library of Hulu Originals is packed with fun, following a sleepy, isolated town which meets the allegedly more sophisticated world outside it.

Starring Jared Keeso and produced by New Metric Media, the half-hour, small-town comedy revolves around the dustups Wayne (Keeso) and his buds get into with their small-town rivals. The show first started off as a web series and later picked up by the Canadian mediahouse Crave.

Set in small-town Canada, the show comes with a language of its own! The best way to go about is to dive right in and figure a way to swim in the Canadian waters!

A strange, simple, delightful show that kept surprising me throughout the two seasons is available on Hulu. (Another three have premiered in Canada).

The show is strange because of its spectacular filth (there’s a who gag to figure out whether one or more of the townspeople could have molested an ostrich) and delightful because of its startling sweetness towards all of its cartoonish characters.

Even critics seemed to love this Canadian comedy despite its overtly sexist representations of both the genders.

Maybe because it also manages to transcend the vulgarity with its intent on revealing the softer side of its wacky characters.

The Vox called it a love letter to small town life, the guys at Rolling Stone termed it “wonderfully weird” those at the New Yorker found it to be a “surreal Canadian comedy”.

The show has also been rated well online with a score of 8.7/10 on IMDb.
