Bungo To Alchemist Game Gets An Anime Adaptation

Bungo to Alchemist, a famous Japanese game from DMM Games, launched in November 2016 and gained popularity with its fresh concept and a deep storyline. The player is taken to a new world where renowned Japanese writers from all eras of humanity are present to spread their wisdom. The objective is to purify books that have been tainted by the Shinshokusha.

Recently, a website launched with the announcement that Bungo To Alchemist: Shinpan no Haguruma (Literary Greats and Alchemists: The Gears of Judgement) will be adapted into an anime which will premiere in April 2020.

The game’s main cast is reprising their roles for the animated adaptation. The anime will be directed by Todhinori Watanabe, famous for his work in Tokyo Ghoul: re, at OLM studio. The series scripts will be written and supervised by Jun Kumagai. Atsuko Nakajima has been appointed as the Chief Animation Director, as well as the Character Designer. The music for the anime will be composed by the game’s music composers: Hideki Sakamoto.

This, however, is not the first time this game has inspired a new form of media. Bungo to Alchemist has previously inspired Anthology Comics, Line Reading CDs and a very successful stage play.
