The tenth episode of Buddy Daddies strayed from its usual light-hearted and comedic themes into a heartbreaking one. Miri’s mother arrives to take Miri back with her, and Rei and Kazuki have no choice but to accept since she knows about their jobs and does not hesitate to blackmail them.

Misaki, Miri’s mother, reappears, wanting Miri back. They are forced to let Misaki into their apartment because they cannot argue in front of Miri. Kazuki and Rei learn from Misaki that she has throat cancer and cannot sing, so her boyfriend fired her.
Misaki hints that she knows about their assassin careers and isn’t afraid to blackmail them because Kazuki is unsure. Later, Kyutaro reveals that he called Misaki himself, passing on a threat from Boss; either Rei returns to the organization, or Ogino will kill Kazuki and Miri to punish Rei for betraying the organization.
Recognizing their situation, they realize they can’t keep Miri safe anymore. To say goodbye, they take Miri on one last fun-filled day out. Along the way, Kazuki wonders if Miri would hate them if she discovered the truth about them being her father’s killer.
They eventually hand Miri over to Misaki, claiming she is having a sleepover and will return in the morning. They accept that they will never see Miri again or have another chance at happiness as they watch her leave.
