Miri prepares for her daycare’s sporting event. Rei sneaks onto the field the night before for an unknown reason. Rei surprises Kazuki by making riceballs to go with the picnic he prepared. Rei secured an excellent spot to watch Miri at daycare by booby-trapping it with razor wire, causing some concern among other parents.
Rei witnesses Kazuki’s popularity firsthand among other parents and the fact that most mothers have crushes on them both. They stopped for lunch after the morning events, most of which Rei didn’t understand.
The other children enjoy Rei’s rice balls because he fills them with sweets and snacks. During the race, Miri, who trained for Rei, finds himself cheering for her; however, Miri trips and finishes last, for which Rei blames himself. While Rei looks depressed, Kazuki assists Miri in the parent/child obstacle course.
A scavenger hunt is part of the course, and Miri chooses Rei as her item and wins the gold medal. Miri reveals that her item to find is “family,” which makes Kazuki cry. Kyutaro locates photos of Rei with Kazuki and Miri for Rei’s father.
