Bridgerton Season 3’s Synopsis Teases Penelope & Colin’s Romance

There’s nothing like a love that blooms after you’ve given up on it, right? While we might not know of it, Penelope is about to feel the exact emotion in season 3 of Bridgerton. How do we know that? All thanks to a detailed synopsis of the upcoming season of the Regency-era romance series!

The new detailed synopsis was a part of the Bridgerton gift box journalist Meghan O’Keefe received and showed off on Twitter. We’ve prepared the summary for a better reading experience under the original tweet posted by @megsokay:

From Shondaland and new showrunner Jess Brownell, Bridgerton is back for its third season where Penelope Featherington has finally given up on her long-held crush on Colin Bridgerton after hearing his disparaging words about her last season.  However, she has decided it’s time to take a husband, preferably one who will provide her with enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, far away from her mother and sisters. But lacking in confidence, Penelope’s attempts on the marriage mart fail spectacularly.

Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer travels with a new look and a serious sense of swagger. But he’s disheartened to realize that Penelope, the one person who always appreciated him as he was, is giving him the cold shoulder. Eager to win back her friendship, Colin offers to mentor Penelope in the ways of confidence to help her find a husband this season. But when his lessons start working a little too well, Colin must grapple with whether his feelings for Penelope are truly just friendly.

Complicating matters for Penelope is her rift with Eloise, who has found a new friend in a very unlikely place. Meanwhile, Penelope’s growing presence in the town makes it all the more difficult to keep her Lady Whistledown alter ego a secret.

If memory serves, you’ll remember Colin confessed he’ll never feel romance for Penelope. Using that as a sign to move on, Penelope goes on the hunt for a new prospective husband.

Three new characters joining this season are Marcus Anderson (Daniel Francis), Harry Dankworth (James Phoon), and Lord Debling (Sam Philips), all of whom can very well be Penelope’s next target. But just as she realizes she lacks confidence and experience in this matter, Colin enters with a new makeover, hurt to see Penelope avoiding him.

In an attempt to win her friendship back, he coaches her to be the perfect lady suitable for marriage but ends up falling in love with her instead. This will be the source of all the drama.

And that’s not all there is to put a strain on Penelope’s life in the town! Her rift with Eloise and her secret alter ego as Lady Whistledown threatens her peaceful existence in her hometown.

With this detailed synopsis, we wonder if we even need a trailer for the next season of the romance drama! But we’d still like it; thank you, Netflix! The show will probably come back later this year with Penelope and Colin’s friends-to-lovers arc in season 3.
