Get your best dresses out, the ball that is Bridgerton is back on schedule as production for Season 2 resumes. Filming was abruptly shut down due to two Covid-19 cases, but showrunner Chris Van Dusen has confirmed that production had resumed.
When news of the second case hit in mid-July, Netflix refrained from confirming if either of the cases were a member of the cast. They did state that both individuals were now in isolation and that filming would be halted indefinitely.
Fans had already been warned about a delay back in January, when Phoebe Dynevor who plays Daphne Bridgeton expressed how filming would be difficult and require extra care given the intimate setting of the production.
Nonetheless, it seems that Season 2 has made a tidy dent in its coursework, as Van Dusen confirmed to Variety that not only has production resumed, he is also in the middle of post-production for the first few episodes. Here’s his full statement.
We are back underway. We had to delay because of COVID, but we’re back in it. Right now I’m in post, editing our first couple episodes, which are looking great.

After the rollercoaster of events, including and not limited to Daphne and Simon’s slow-burn romance, uncovering Lady Whistledown and more, the second season will be focused on the eldest Bridgerton son, Anthony.
Anthony, played by Jonathan Bailey, has had his own set of long trials — debilitating attempts of being the Birdgerton family’s patriarch, tussling with his secret affair with Siena and striving to live within society’s propriety.
Bridgeton is ripe with sub-plots that nudge the story as it goes along, and we’re sure Season 2 will have the same as our favorite characters navigate their lives in the ton.
Right now, there is no release date for Season 2, but as we wait, a reminder that the show has been renewed for Season 3 and 4.

Kate is an ambitious, fearless woman who has opposite views than Anthony, which makes him more curious.
The cast includes the newly added love interest, Sex Education’s Simone Ashley as Kate Sharma, and Charithra Chandran as Kate’s sister, Edwina.
The sequel is expected to release sometime in 2022.
A spinoff series for Queen Charlotte was also announced by Netflix and is currently in development.
