The son of the Seventh dies in episode 293 of Boruto, titled “Freedom.”

Killed by his friend, Boruto lies lifeless in Naruto’s arms as he tries and figures out what to do from now on. Code continues fighting Kawaki as Shikamaru tries to get Naruto to snap out of his daze, but it seems impossible.

Momoshiki comes in clutch as he is forced to decide in order to save the life of his vessel to continue prolonging his existence within him, but this comes with foreseen side effects.

1. Episode 294 Speculation: 

Boruto has ended it’s current end of part 1 of the anime, and the sequel has already begun production, according to reports. The anime will likely continue airing later this year, and possibly even as early as September, depending on the consistency of the manga since the arc has not yet been fully serialized.

3. Recap of Episode 293:

The episode begins with Naruto’s flashbacks to all his memories with Boruto, everything that has happened from his birth to now, where he lies motionless in his arms as he calls out to him to wake up.

Code holds Shikamaru hostage as he talks to Eida about their next course of action, considering the sudden change of events. Kawaki taunts him and says that he can kill the hostage if he wants and doesn’t care.

Kawaki activates his left eye and engages Code in another brawl as they go toe to toe while Naruto holds on to his lifeless son. Shikamaru tries and gets Naruto to snap out of it and focus on the matter at hand and take Code out for once and for all.

Kawaki charges up a final blast that clears out the entire area in front of them, but the smoke clears to find that he’s the one who gets knocked back thanks to Daemon’s reflecting ability. Kawaki is knocked unconscious, and Code tries to take him back but is stopped by Shikamaru.

He makes an exit finally, and Shikamaru and Naruto try and decide on what steps to take now that Kawaki has attacked a comrade of the Leaf, but he is also his own adopted son. Boruto luckily wakes back up, bringing immense relief to his dad.

He survived thanks to Momoshiki using his powers in order to rewrite his cellular tissue and bringing his body back from what would’ve been a fatal injury. However, if his vessel was destroyed then his resurrection would also be impossible, so he had to make the painful decision.

Momoshiki makes a prophecy about his incoming death, leaving Boruto confused in his already dazed phase. Code and Eida also immediately get the update that he’s still alive. Eida realizes that he even had a whole conversation with Momoshiki in the process, but couldn’t hear the details.

Code and Eida immediately deduce what could’ve happened and that the only way he survived is that Momoshiki has turned him into a complete Otsutsuki, making him an eligible target for the sacrifice and thus a new target for them.

Kawaki wakes up and is immediately frustrated at not being locked up for killing Boruto and is quickly reassured. He meets up with Boruto later on the mountain, and he talks about his prophecy that he would lose everything; Kawaki, however, has nothing left to lose.
