Amazon Releases Trailer for a ‘Borat’ Special, Teases New Footage

A trailer has been released for the upcoming Borat special, which includes never-before-seen clips from Borat Subsequent MovieFilm.

The special has been titled Borat Supplemental Reportings Retrieved From Floor of Stable Containing Editing Machine. It is set to air in multiple parts on Amazon Prime Video.

Yesterday, the streaming service released the official trailer for the upcoming special on YouTube, and it promises brand-new, behind-the-scenes- footage that “tells a new story”. Check it out here:

Among the new and extended clips shown in the trailer include Borat escaping from a mob of angry white people, Tutar wanting to look like R. Kelly on a visit to a makeup store, and an amusing conversation between Borat and Jeanise Jones, Tutar’s babysitter.

The trailer ends with the previously shown angry mob trying to break into Borat actor Sacha Baron Cohen’s vehicle.

As the cast and crew must have shot hours and hours of footage for Borat Subsequent MovieFilm, it makes sense that the unused remnants could be put together as part of a special.

Since there are many deleted scenes from Borat 2 available on YouTube, Amazon is making a smart move by putting them together in a polished compilation.

Borat Subsequent MovieFilm won the Golden Globe for Best Actor—Motion Picture Musical or Comedy, going to Cohen, and Best Motion Picture—Musical or Comedy.

It has also been nominated for two Oscars for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress for Maria Bakalova.

The sequel is a follow-up to Cohen’s 2006 mockumentary Borat. It premiered in October 2020 and, upon its debut, became a sensation amongst fans and critics alike.

The highlight of the film was Bakalova’s debut role, playing Borat’s 15-year-old daughter Tutar which gained her significant praise.

While the first film followed Borat’s adventures throughout the United States interacting with regular people, the sequel shifted gears to the Kazakhstani journalist getting in contact with high-profile names like Rudy Giuliani, Mike Pence, and former President Donald Trump.

And so, even though the release date for the special is yet to be announced, it’s definitely a wait worth looking forward to.
