Twin Anime Films by Yomoji Ototno Reveal Same Day October Release

Yomoji Otono’s brilliant twin novels Boku ga Aishita Subete no Kimi e and Kimi o Aishita Hitori no Boku e are finally getting an anime adaptation and sci-fi romance lovers are all here for it.

I called them ‘twin’ novels because these are stories that are neither prequels nor sequels but are interrelated to one another. They are set in the same universe where traveling between parallel worlds is a routine occurrence.

Toei Animation has released a joint trailer for Boku ga Aishita Subete no Kimi e (To Every You I’ve Loved Before) and Kimi o Aishita Hitori no Boku e (To The Solitary Me That Loved You) anime films. The trailer previews both the movies and their October 7, 2022, release date.

『僕が愛したすべての君へ』『君を愛したひとりの僕へ』
“To all you I loved” “To the one servant who loved you”

Yes, you heard that correctly. Just like both the novels were published on the same day, their anime film adaptation will also have the same day of release. However, the director and animation studios for both films will be different.

The story follows the male lead Koyomi in two parallel worlds: one where he chooses to live with his mother after the divorce, and one where he chooses his father. This results in slightly different futures and last names for Koyomi, though his personality mostly remains the same.

In one universe, he’s Koyomi Takasaki, and in the other one, he’s Koyomi Hidaka. The trailer previews both the films and Koyomi with different love interests. Koyomi Takasaki falls for Kazune Takigawa, his prep school classmate, after she’s from the 85th world, where they both are lovers.

Koyomi Hidaka develops a crush and eventually falls for Shiori Satou, whom he met at his father’s research institution. Things go south for them when Koyomi’s father and Shiori’s mother marry each other. The young couple decides to go to other worlds where they’re not step-siblings to be with each other.

Moreover, the trailer also revealed the staff for both the movies, and we have it here for you:

The entire concept of the films and how they complement each other fascinates me to no extent, and I can’t wait to see how they will do as an anime.

The good part about them is that you can book back-to-back shows for both the movies and finish them in one day.
