Now that the whole hostage situation has come to an end, one more problem still stands. This is indeed the bigger problem for Rin and every other exorcist. Saving Izumo was just a part of it, but looking at the bigger picture, the Illuminati is now in a direct war with the Knights of True Cross while the two eldest sons of Satan represent each side. In this war, Mephesto stands for humanity, and Lucifer stands for the union of the two worlds.

In episode 11, we’ll see how much the Tokyo branch of the true cross-organization has recovered after the Seraphim explosion. The exwires couldn’t bring back Shima but after fighting alongside them, Izumo has faced her true feelings and now is truly one of them. She was an important asset to the team, but now she’ll be part of everyone else’s life as well.

3. Episode 10 Recap

After ensuring Rin’s mother’s safety and that of the rest, Izumo finally gave up on controlling the nine-tails and let it take over. Suguro asked Yukio how to exorcise the nine tails, but Yukio replied that there was no known method of exorcising them. A miracle happened before the nine-tails could do anything horrible, and we see that Izumo’s mom had returned to her senses. She started a chant, and while Rin and the other exwires kept the zombies busy, she forced the nine-tails to leave Izumo’s body and reenter her own.

She knew she didn’t have long to live, so this was the only option she had to save Izumo. With the nine-tailed fox now inside her, she passed away in Izumo’s hands while all of Izumo’s misunderstandings about her mother were cleared away. Gideon, as “demonic” as ever, didn’t care at all about this heartbreaking moment and forced a demon possession on himself. Izumo swore to kill Gedoin herself and got up even though she had no weapons to fight with.

Surprising her at that moment, heeding her calls, Uke and Mike came back since they weren’t really dead. They said that seeing Izumo’s mental state, they could give her power much greater than a simple spirit dispel. Izumo started the chant as everyone else protected her from Gedoin and the zombies. Once her chant was completed, Uke leaped on top of Gedoin and hit him with his lightning attack, ending the chaos for good.

However, they still had to leave the facility, which wasn’t supposed to be easy, but they actually did it with no effort since their backup arrived right at the nick of time. The nearby branches of the knights teamed up to take down the facility. The next day, Izumo woke up in the hospital next to Shiemi, and Nemu came to visit her using the window. He told her what happened five years ago.

Five years ago, Maria contacted the Knights of the True Cross, but she was killed, and Izumo was taken hostage, so Tsukumo was the only one they could save. She was then adopted by an affiliate of the Takara family, making her Nemu’s cousin. Nemu gave Izumo a key, which led her to where Tsukumo was. It could be a heartwarming reunion, but unfortunately, she didn’t remember her older sister.

Izumo decided not to tell her about the truth since she didn’t want to drag her out of her happy life. This was somewhat expected as she was only three when she was separated from Izumo, but Izumo still started crying like a kid in front of Shiemi. Once she had fully recovered, everyone paid a visit to her mother’s final resting place before heading back to Tokyo. Even though they couldn’t bring back their other friend, Shima, it was still nice to see that Izumo was slowly starting to get along with everyone.

Satan, the ruler of Gehenna, decides to conquer Assiah, but to do so, he must possess a human. Unfortunately for him, he does not find a suitable vessel and hence, sends his own son, expecting him to grow into a suitable vessel.

Rin Okumura, a regular teenager with quite a temper, has no idea that his actual father was Satan. Nor did he know about being a suitable vessel.
