In the last chapter, we saw Nacht activating his signature Dark Prison Hunting Ground to capture the devils but they easily overwhelmed him. Then, Asta swooped in to save the day and it was certainly a delight to see him this strong!

In chapters 284-288, we saw Nacht being impaled by the two devils, and I predicted that Asta might appear at the end of the chapter to come to save his vice-captain and that’s what happened.

The real question, can Asta even beat two higher-end devils when he can’t even keep up with the power drainage of his Devil Union?

It is published under Shonen Jump magazine, a weekly magazine that comes out every Sunday. Black Clover manga is not on a break this week and will be released in this week’s issue.

Chapter 289 of the Black Clover manga has been released on Sunday, Apr 11, 2021 at 9:30 am PDT. The chapter title has not been leaked yet.

The raw scans and spoilers for the chapter 289 of the manga have been leaked out and here’s how the rough translation goes –

The chapter starts with Asta slaying one of the devils in half, the other devil takes advantage and absorbs the first one. Now, it’s between Asta and his strongest opponent yet – two high-level devils merged into one.

We also see Magna by the end of the chapter, who helps Asta defeating his opponent.

So, a lot didn’t happen in this chapter. Asta came into the scene at the end of chapter 287. In this chapter, we see him going toe to toe with the high-ranking devils which makes Nacht see him as his brother Morgen.

Liebe is also quite motivated to beat these two devils since they used to pick up on him back in the underworld. The chapter ends with Asta slicing one of the devils in half.
