In the last chapter, we saw Nacht activating his signature Dark Prison Hunting Ground to capture the devils but they easily overwhelmed him. At this point, chapter 288 can only go either of the two ways, let’s talk about them.

In chapters 284-287, we saw Nacht being impaled by the two devils, and I predicted that Asta might appear at the end of the chapter to come to save his vice-captain and that’s what happened.

Asta will have a full-on fight against the two high-end devils and something he’ll say will make him look like Morgen in Nacht’s eyes.

The 287th chapter starts with an amazing cover of Asta & Yuno in their stunning new outfits. I say stunning but only Asta is looking good. Yuno, on the other hand, feels “puffy.”
The chapter continues Nacht’s flashback from its predecessor. We see Nacht sitting in front of his brother’s grave while crying and thinking about him. Yami appears and asks Nacht to come to join his new squad (black bulls). Nacht makes a promise to himself that day, that he’ll never let evil harm the good people.
The scene shifts to the present and Nacht tries a dangerous move by using Devil Union with two different partners at once, Devil Union Mode: Gallus x Felis. His efforts, however, seem to go in vain since he ends up getting overwhelmed by the opponents.
Asta appears at the end of the chapter and saves Nacht by cutting the devils arm who was about to decapitate Nacht.

Black Clover is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yūki Tabata. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine since February 16, 2015.
The story centers around Asta, a young boy seemingly born without any magic power, something that is unknown in the world he lives in; and his foster brother Yuno who received the rare four-leaf grimoire and has more magic power than most people! With his fellow mages from the Black Bulls, Asta plans to become the next Wizard King.
