Liebe is getting angrier every second as he thinks about all the time he spent along stuck in the five-leaf grimoire with nothing but hatred for the world for taking away the only person to ever love the poor AMD.
However, if there is one thing about Asta that I know for certain it’s that he’s UNPREDICTABLE. After realizing how he can’t use his own swords he uses Yami’s katana.
The chapter ends with Asta’s show of proficiency as a swordsman by performing Kiato’s sword-dance followed by the moves of his various opponents (Licht, Mars, Kiato) and masters (Yami and Fanzell) including Yami
Chapter 269 Predictions
Chapter 268 went to the past, gave us A LOT OF INFORMATION and with the present events as Liebe begins to lose himself even more. In the next chapter, we will see whether Asta will seal a deal with the devil or not!
For those of you who don’t understand the significance of this chapter, let me put this in simpler words. Asta has grown a lot stronger, notable feats being the gigantification of the Demon Slayer sword, the ability to fly using anti-mana, and the defeat of Dante the King of Spade Kingdom.
Therefore, when Nacht said he would make Asta stronger, our imagination reached its height and there was nowhere else to go until now!
In this chapter, Nacht said that Asta has only been using the devil’s power which gets leaked out – this meant if he accesses the true power (,i.e., the contract), he will be unstoppable. In any case, this chapter could go one of the two ways:
I. Asta conquers the devil!
Haha! I agree that the headline is a little ambiguous, so let me clear that up for you. No! There is no chance in God’s green Earth that Asta will be able to physically conquer AMD in strength without the former’s swords.
But, Asta has one more ability – the shonen protagonist talk power. Yep, he talks too much and makes his enemies his friends; moreover, the ‘enemy’ we are talking about here is Asta’s brother, to begin with.
It is likely that the truth that was just revealed to us will soon come out in front of Asta and he will make up with Liebe. Together, the brotherly duo will avenge their mother by defeating Dante x Lucifero’s evil reign.
II. The Ultimate Magic!
I know I know! It has nothing to do with Asta’s battle with the devil but you have to admit, you cannot not talk about the Ultimate magic.
Even though the Noelle-squad survived Vanica’s devastating spell, we know they are not nearly strong enough to go head-to-head with the menacing devil, let alone beat her, especially considering the strength Yami and Asta had to unleash to defeat Dante.
However, if the leader of elves says he can, I believe him! As to what this special and known-to-a-few magic spell, Ultimate magic, is – I have a considerable theory.
We know how much elves are loved by mana, and the power brought upon by natural mana has been shown on many occasions around Gaja, Lolopechka, and even Licht himself.
Therefore, just like Mana Skin had an upgrade (Mana Zone), Ultimate magic will likely be a much-advanced form of using natural mana and creating arrays.

Chapter 268 of the Black Clover manga, titled “Devil,” was truly a masterpiece. It starts with Asta’s AMD reminiscing about his past which gives us a lot of info on his origins and even Asta’s history! He thinks to himself:
Devils are born in the underworld and assigned ranks by birth like a caste system and higher ranked devils pick on the lower ones. Asta’s AMD had no magic since birth and used to get pick on all the time. One day he messes with a much higher ranked senpai who throws AMD at the gates of underworld.
While any other devil would get decimated trying to get through, AMD had no magic, and actually managed to get through the door and enter the human world. However, he was a weak and timid boy feared by everyone and always on the run.
One day, he wakes up all patched with bandages in a hut of a mysterious woman – Lichita. Lichita has the same disease as Henry, her body automatically sucks up mana and life energy from those around her.
What a stroke of luck – Lichita who lived in exile due to her condition offers the AMD to be her stepmother since he has no magic. She names him Liebe and they spend some good days together.
However, the peace is short-lived, as the highest-ranking senpai, Lucifero, hijacks Liebe’s body and attempts to ‘have some fun.’ He kills Lichita and the process and tries to kill Liebe as well.
We see a small flashback in Lichita’s memories where she had to leave her child due to her condition (possibly Asta) and she uses her magic to store Liebe in the 5-leaf grimoire.
Cut to the present, Asta vs AMD fight continues as AMD (Liebe) loses control of his self and is getting consumed by his rage against Lucifero and the entire devil-kind.
