To take the words from the famous shonen anime, Black Clover chapter 266 was quite “OVER THE TOP!,” so much so that I can’t wait to see what chapter 267 has in store for us.
Black Clover, by Yuki Tabata, is one of the hottest mangas these days. It is often believed to be a part of “New Big Three” alongside My Hero Academia and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.
The 266th chapter felt like an actual roller coaster ride as it began with Julius talking to Gaja about their plans for the upcoming battle. I believed the chapter would be about strategic planning.
But, you know what they say…don’t doubt a mangaka too soon! The second half of the chapter showed us different things when Nacht brought Asta face-to-face with his devil.
In the next chapter, Asta will fight his devil, and I have some thoughts about how it will go.
Black Clover 267 Raw Scans
Raw scans for chapter 267 of the Black Clover manga have come out partially, and the rough translation goes like this:
The chapter starts with an astonished Asta as he sees his own body in a devilish form. Asta, being “Asta,” tries to thank AMD for his help so far, but the latter calls him an idiot and launches his attack using Asta’s Demon Slayer sword.
Nacht tells Asta that the devilish form is how AMD would look like once he gets the control of Asta’s body – this could go two ways either Asta defeats AMD and owns his power, or the gets defeated and AMD is resurrected in Asta’s body.
However, there is a twist!!! Asta senses something (an emotion) coming out of AMD’s body that he can’t or rather won’t kill Asta. The latter then sees a woman who looks like Asta in AMD’s memory.
Could this woman be Asta’s mother? What do you guys think?? I am literally jumping out of my seat!!!
Chapter 267 Predictions
Chapter 267 ended with Asta facing off against his devil. In the next chapter, we will see whether Asta will seal a deal with the devil or not!
For those of you who don’t understand the significance of this chapter, let me put this in simpler words. Asta has grown a lot stronger, notable feats being the gigantification of the Demon Slayer sword, the ability to fly using anti-mana, and the defeat of Dante the King of Spade Kingdom.
Therefore, when Nacht said he would make Asta stronger, our imagination reached its height and there was nowhere else to go until now! In this chapter, Nacht said that Asta has only been using the devil’s power which gets leaked out – this meant if he accesses the true power (,i.e., the contract), he will be unstoppable. In any case, this chapter could go one of the two ways:
I. Asta defeats the Devil!
We saw the AMD manifesting his body in the magic field but it is most certainly not his true body. I believe that it’s nothing more than a manifestation of pure anti-magic brimming in Asta’s right arm – which would explain the absence of Asta’s arm.
To form a contract with the Devil, according to Nacht the Know-it-All, Asta must defeat AMD and prove his mettle. If there is anything I know about Asta, it is that the little guy hates to lose. It is not foolish to say that Asta might defeat the devil using his Swords as he does have Licht’s sword magic after all and considering the devil is nothing more than a manifestation.
II. They call me the Devil for a Reason!
Even though it is a possibility, it’s still a long shot that Asta will be able to defeat AMD. On top of that, if he turns out to be a part of real AMD and not just a manifestation, well, let’s just say Asta is doomed.
On the other hand, Asta must become the ultimate warrior – he cannot do so unless he finds the binding contract. This does have a loophole – Asta’s goal is the binding contract and not the devil’s defeat.
I believe the devil will let him form the contract for three important reasons:
- The battle and contract are interrelated because the other devils won’t form a contract this easily, but Asta’s is different than others.
- Time and time again, AMD has shown keen interest in Asta’s adventures and has helped him for his own amusement; also, nobody except the manaless Asta can use AMD’s grimoire.
- AMD hates Lucifero just as much as Asta hates Dante!
III. The Ultimate Magic!
I know I know! It has nothing to do with Asta’s battle with the devil but you have to admit, you cannot not talk about the Ultimate magic.
Even though the Noelle-squad survived Vanica’s devastating spell, we know they are not nearly strong enough to go head-to-head with the menacing devil, let alone beat her, especially considering the strength Yami and Asta had to unleash to defeat Dante.
However, if the leader of elves says he can, I believe him! As to what this special and known-to-a-few magic spell, Ultimate magic, is – I have a considerable theory.
We know how much elves are loved by mana, and the power brought upon by natural mana has been shown on many occasions around Gaja, Lolopechka, and even Licht himself.
Therefore, just like Mana Skin had an upgrade (Mana Zone), Ultimate magic will likely be a much-advanced form of using natural mana and creating arrays.
Chapter 267 Release Info
It is published under Shonen Jump magazine, a weekly magazine that comes out every Sunday. Black Clover manga is not on a break this week and will be released as per schedule.

Chapter 266 Recap
The chapter starts with a long-distance magic call between Gaja (who is distressed about Lolopechka) and Julius Novachrono. While Gaja is stressed about Queen Lolo, Charlotte is worried about her Yami Sukehiro. Julius explains the battle plan to Gaja, and the latter tells him about their meeting with elves.
He tells them that the elves are teaching them Ultimate magic to strengthen their chances of victory against the Dark Triad and Spade army.
On the next panel, we see that Nacht visits the Black Bull headquarters and tells everyone about his vice-captaincy. He calls everyone incapable as Magic Knights. To be honest, Nacht is just as weird as any other Bull; he fits right into the team if you ask me. LOL
Nacht then takes Asta to an abandoned Noble house and calls forth his black magic – the anti-magic devil appears before Asta, who must now defeat the devil and form a binding contract with him.
