Billions Season 6 Episode 8 Recap
Prince is preparing for a marathon to welcome the Olympic Games to New York City. He tells his team at Prince Capital to use the Olympics as an opportunity to maximize profits. He gives Philip the lead, despite Taylor already working on an airline sponsor. Philip sees that Taylor is emotionally invested and tells them to go ahead with their plans for Supersonic and that he would look into self-driving cars instead.
While Chuck is convinced that Prince secured the Olympic bid through a bribe, he still has no way of proving it. He meets with the head of the Olympic committee along with Dave and while she sympathizes with Chuck, she also realizes he doesn’t have any concrete proof of corruption or foul play. He devises a plan to get various state Governors together under the guise of working against healthcare companies that misused the pandemic to their advantage.
He tells Lazarra, Krakow, and Sruthi that the Governors’ meeting will actually close the Carried Interest Tax Loophole, meaning they will be taxed a higher percentage on their capital gains. When they see the Governors dining together, they buy into the story. Later that day, Wags and Scooter barge into Prince’s apartment to turn out the news. A press conference is held declaring the Olympic bid as a result of foul play. Even Krakow says they wouldn’t have been a part of it had they known about the bribery.
They try to go to the head of the Olympics committee to convince her that these are baseless claims. However, she’d already made up her mind and the games would now be moved to Los Angeles. Chuck celebrates his victory.
