It is known that Hidetaka Miyazaki, the President of FromSoftware, is a big fan of dark fantasy works, especially Berserk. Hence, it is no surprise that almost every piece of the Dark Souls game has some references to Berserk.
@CloudyNot4Talk spotted four references in the latest announcement trailer for the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring.

One of the most enormous references is the female character in the trailer resembling Berserk’s Queen of Midland. However, the popular community theory is that she is a younger version of Elden Ring’s Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon.
Another reference is spotted in the form of a burning giant seen in the trailer. This burning giant bears similarities to Wicker Man. There are other parallels in the trailer as well.

This includes Miquella’s cocoon and Griffith, suggesting and speculating that Miquella could end up being reborn from an egg and bear an angelic appearance.
However, the most prominent of the references is the impression of Messmer the Impaler himself. Fans theorize that Messmer resembles Berserk’s Grunbeld in attire and appearance.
They share the same red hair, a snake figurine on the helmet, and dragon wings behind them. The dragon wing adds to the theory as it could be a homage to Grunbeld’s Great Flame Dragon persona.
Theories abound, but there is no denying that the latest trailer is very well-designed and sets many expectations for the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, which will be released on June 21st, 2024.

Elden Ring is the next major title to be released by FromSoftware, the developers of Demon’s Souls, Bloodborne and the Dark Souls franchise. Elden Ring is set to release on the February 25th, 2022.
The game is set in a world known as The Lands Between. Players will take control of a Tarnished to explore these lands and uncover the secrets it holds. The game is an open-world style title with emphasis on combat and traversal. There is also a multiplayer component, along players to summon others for co-operative play, or to be invaded for PvP encounters.
