Seasons one and two of iCarly are now streaming on Netflix. Announcing the news late last month, and delighting hundreds of fans, Netflix revealed that Nick’s popular teen sitcom was finally coming to the streaming site in February. However, fans should not get too excited because the show will be available for only a brief period, and it is unlikely that Netflix will add the later seasons during this time.
Starring Miranda Cosgrove, Jennette McCurdy, Nathan Kress, and others, iCarly revolves around high-schooler Carly Shay, whose audition for her school talent show becomes a sensation on the internet. Carly and her best friend, Sam Puckett, with the help of their tech-savvy friend, Freddie Benson, produce the eponymous web show to follow up their viral act.
iCarly became one of the ‘golden shows’ of Nickelodeon and was so successful that it ran for six seasons. Years after its final season aired, the show still has millions of fans who are waiting for it to come to Netflix. But Netflix has released no information about adding seasons three to six to its library in the coming months.
A revival for the show was announced by CBS All Access (soon to be Paramount+) in December with Cosgrove, Kress, and Jerry Trainor returning to their roles. The chances are that the first two seasons will be available on Netflix until the reboot drops on Paramount+.
The reboot had a 2021 release date, but productions of most television shows have been hampered severely due to the coronavirus pandemic, as a result of which the iCarly reboot might be pushed back to 2022.
iCarly is a teen sitcom that aired on Nickelodeon from 2007 to 2012. It starred Miranda Cosgrove, Jenette McCurdy, Nathan Kress, Jerry Trainor, and Noah Munck.
When best friends Carly and Sam’s talent show audition is recorded by Freddie and posted online, they are furious with him. However, their chemistry wins over the people on the internet, and they become online sensations. Later, the three of them produce their own webcast.
