Bandai Namco Strives With 13 Partners to Make Gundam Tech a Reality

Summary

  • Bandai Namco and its 13 partners have been split into four teams.
  • The four teams are working on different aspects of Gundam technology to make it a reality.
  • Fans are worried and believe it’s better if the tech stays fictional.

Bandai Namco has given a new meaning to the word “delulu”. From 2021, the company has been working to make Gundam technology. The company initially wanted to address the population and environmental issues and then suddenly took a 360.

Bandai Namco had 11 partners working on Gundam Technology, and on October 27, 2023, two more partners were added for 13.

Bandai Namco and its 13 partners have been split into four teams: Team Space Life Project, Prototyping Project of a New Maneuverable Robot for Social Implementation of Mobile Suit, Green Space Colony Project, and Plasma Agriculture Project Inspired by Beam Saber.

Each of these four teams works on different facets of the technology and how they can be implemented in the real world.

According to Team Space Life Project’s homepage, they will focus on creating sustainable space colonies and new medical technologies for humans to survive in those spaces.

The Green Space Colony Project will provide an experimental environment to study the effects of gravity that are unique to space and will help humans realize life in space.

The Prototyping Project of a New Maneuverable Robot for Social Implementation of Mobile Suit team aims to create a “real MS (mobile suit)” that can enrich people’s lives.

Likewise, the Plasma Agriculture Project is a team that will study plasma for agricultural purposes. The team states that “plasma can now be maintained in the air, making it possible to control it gently so it does not get hot even when touched by people or plants. If this is applied to agriculture, we can expect to promote plant growth, improve plant immunity, and cultivate with reduced pesticides.”

While some of the hard-core fans seem excited that future Gundam promises may not be that far off. However, we need to understand that this is a horrifying sentence.

Honestly, Gundam is better off staying fictional. This is indeed worrying that 13 companies are seriously working on this project. It’s unreasonable and unrealistic.

For now, we can only watch for what these teams may achieve.
