Baldur’s Gate III developers release hotfix to address over 150 issues

Baldur’s Gate 3 launched on August 3rd. However, there were a bunch of problems that revealed themselves upon launch.

Developers Lorian Studios have not wasted time releasing a hotfix for Baldur’s Gate 3. It addresses issues like crashes, especially on the Steam Deck, disappearing characters in split-screen games, and problems with the UI, audio, engine, cinematics, and gameplay. The hotfix lives up to its name and “tackles over 150 bugs and issues.”

Lorian Studios have attributed the problems with Baldur Gate 3’s save system to the game’s cross-save functionality. The hotfix will also resolve many crashes caused due to lighting systems, Steam API, switching a race or class in Character Creation, or unlocking an item for a game entity without stats.

Nvidia PhysX driver crashes, and crashes caused by the enemy using Motivator during combat in the Steel Watch Foundry were also addressed.

Multiplayer issues were also addressed, including the issue that allowed players to listen to private dialogues using the context menu and one that caused players to get stuck and not be able to join a dialogue if someone else was already in a dialogue.

Cinematic fixes include issues in dialogues when listening in. Character models for half-orcs, Dragonborn, and half-elves would not update correctly when unequipping armor in the character sheet. This issue was also addressed.

Sometimes fixed SplitScreen cinematics would show sampling garbage as well. The issue was fixed in this hotfix. Audio issues with grunts, shouts, and moans across gameplay and cinematics were also fixed.

The audio levels in a dialogue with Mayrina in the Lower City were also fixed. Specific issues with the game engine were fixed, including textures appearing in bright, neon colors, split-screen issues causing characters to remain invisible after a dialogue ends, and aspect ratio issues with AMD’s FSR enabled during split-screen.

A bunch of cinematic-related issues were fixed. This pleased the fans, who loved to see the prompt response on the part of the developers to rectify the mistakes caused by the initial launch.
