Assassin’s Creed Mirage Parkour System will not be entirely like the original

Assassin’s Creed games had a major shift in direction beginning with Assassin’s Creed Origins which introduced a massive open world setting for players to explore. It also added a strong emphasis on role playing elements, experience system, loot and skill sets. The upcoming Assassin’s Creed Mirage is expected to bring back the traditional story driven gameplay, familiar to the older titles in the series.

In a Reddit AMA, Assassin’s Creed Mirage Creative Director Stephane Boudon revealed that the new parkour system will not be entirely similar as seen in pre-AC3 titles. Unfortunately, the system will not include back ejects and side ejects, hence limiting Basim’s ability to jump back or to the side in a swift motion.

The parkour system in Assassin’s Creed Mirage will focus primarily on fluidity and agility of Basim’s movements. The team at Ubisoft have taken inspiration from several games in the franchise to exactly nail the minute details.

While this is disappointing news, especially since many fans have been looking forward to the nostalgic elements in the upcoming title, there will be plenty of features from older AC games. These will make it an interesting play for veteran Assassin’s Creed players.

Fans can once again dye Basim’s base outfits to customize as per their liking. This will open up a number of costume options in the game. Whether this feature will have to be accessed at a tailor shop or a general store remains to be seen.

There will also be a greater focus on social stealth and secondary tools like blow darts and smoke bombs. Players can also access a desaturated blue-grey color palette similar to the original Assassin’s Creed.

The overall response to Assassin’s Creed Mirage is pretty positive so far. Fans are most excited about Ubisoft’s creative decision to return back to the series’ roots. Hopefully, the game will be as good as everyone expects it to be.
