Call Me by Your Name Actor Breaks Silence on Sexual Abuse Allegations

Call Me by Your Name actor Armie Hammer has finally opened up about the sexual abuse allegations placed against him at the beginning of 2021. After splitting with his wife in 2020, Armie Hammer was hammered with allegations claiming he used people and was sexually abusive after his violent texts were exposed on Instagram.

Since the news went public, Hammer has faced an investigation by the LAPD and has either voluntarily stepped down or been removed from high-income projects. He’s maintained silence on the subject so far, but this week he shared his side of the story in an interview with Air Mail.

Hammer opened up about how a youth pastor sexually abused him for nearly a year when he was 13. He explained how he had no “agency in the situation” and thus had to “have control in the situation, sexually.” The actor blamed his trauma for creating his interest in BDSM and his “intense and wild lifestyle.”

I had a very intense and extreme lifestyle. I would scoop up these women, bring them into it – into this whirlwind of travel and sex and drugs and big emotions flying around – and then as soon as I was done, I’d just drop them off and move on to the next woman, leaving that woman feeling abandoned or used.

What that did for me was it introduced sexuality into my life in a way that it was completely out of my control. I was powerless in the situation. I had no agency in the situation. My interests then went to: I want to have control in the situation, sexually.

Hammer also accepted his wrongdoings, openly admitting his fame flipped the “power dynamics” and how his “selfish” tendencies make him “an asshole.”

I would have these younger women in their mid-20s, and I’m in my 30s. I was a successful actor at the time. They could have been happy to just be with me and would have said yes to things that maybe they wouldn’t have said yes to on their own.

I’m here to own my mistakes, take accountability for the fact that I was an asshole, that I was selfish, that I used people to make me feel better, and when I was done, move on. I’m now a healthier, happier, more balanced person.

The Death of the Nile actor confessed he wanted to walk out into the ocean to kill himself after the allegations about is activities, which he claims were consensual, came to light. He also talked about how modern times condemn everyone for one mistake, and that he awaits a chance for redemption like Robert Downey Jr. got.

The minute anyone does anything wrong, they’re thrown away. There’s no chance for rehabilitation. There’s no chance for redemption. Someone makes a mistake, and we throw them away like a broken disposable camera.

Robert and others are examples of what it looks like for a human being to experience pain and growth. And that aspect of it is something that I aspire to.

Do you think Hammer will get a second chance after his brutally honest interview?
