Shinji Aramaki directed an unreleased Aliens vs. Predator anime series. He showed screenshots and designs (dated from 2015) from the Aliens vs. Predator: Annihilation project.
Aramaki acknowledged a Twitter post on the project and added, “It was completed almost seven years ago, and unfortunately, I don’t know why they didn’t release it.”
Aramaki also revealed that the 10-episode project’s story is on a giant immigration ship. Still, he refrained from providing more details in case the project ever does see a formal release.
Aramaki showed a few stills featuring the shared universe’s iconic Alien and Predator factions. He also showed designs for an Alien Queen he drafted for the anime series.
Disney completed its acquisition from 21st Century Fox, the production company behind the Alien vs. Predator franchise, in 2019. After the Twitter post by Aramaki, fans began to speculate the reason for not releasing the anime.
Some fans believe that the anime will be released in the future. While others think it was a good choice not to release the anime. Most fans believe that CGI-based anime is garbage most of the time, and this might be one of those.
Others believe in releasing the anime even if it is trash due to the hard work put into the project. We can only speculate the reasons behind the cancelation as we might never know the absolute truth. It would be nice to see it released sometime in the future.
