Plot details for the upcoming film have been kept under wraps, but it is confirmed that the script delves deeper into Arthur Curry’s underwater world. The “lost kingdom” in the title alludes to an Atlantis-like location called Necrus, which is quite difficult to find.

The release date was shifted several times, and most recently, DC postponed the release date from March 2023 to December 2023. According to director James Wan, the film is CGI-heavy and thus, the crew needed more time to work on its special effects.

Recently, James Wan shared new concept art from Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom on his Instagram. The pictures show colorful underwater locations, underwater flora and fauna, and some action-filled moments.

In his caption, Wan called the images just a small part of the “epic world-building”, stressing that they “barely scratch the surface of this movie.” Check out his post below.

The concept art shows various new locations and settings for the film. The final image shows Aquaman fighting Black Manta, a villain who appeared in the first film and will be returning in the second one.

Black Manta is likely to have a more elaborate role in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and the final image could be a glimpse of his final battle with Aquaman. The concept art also reveals several shark-like characters, one of which is likely Karshon, a new villain in the film.
