3. Episode 8 Recap
Haru stops going to school, triggered after seeing the bullies she had in middle school. She stays in bed, pretending to have a fever. Aono and Saeki notice her absence and question why she isn’t here to practice for the upcoming concert auditions.
Akine decides to meet her while Haru sneaks out to get ice cream. Akine runs into Haru at the convenience store and decides to hang out at the park. Akine presses Haru about her behavior, claiming she shouldn’t say she is okay if she isn’t.
Akine explains how she isn’t okay if Haru isn’t and apologizes for something she did to Haru in middle school. It is revealed that the same girl who Akane slapped was Haru’s bully – and after Akine stood up to them, they only harassed Haru more.
After Haru stopped going to school, the girls began to bully Akine instead. Haru apologizes to Akine, who tells her she doesn’t have to because she makes Akine feel a sense of belonging. Haru then plays a melody that she played when they first hung out.

Blue Orchestra is a manga series by Makoto Akui. It started serialization on the MangaONE and Ura Sunday platforms starting April 2017.
