While the members agree that Aono and Saeki will pass, Harada says that Hatori’s presence will complicate that. Hime explains the conditions of the audition and the required piece to be played and assures them that the second years will be arriving to help them. Akine is scared, but Haru gives her hope to keep performing.
Hatori arrives with the rest of the second-years, and they surprise the class by being able to play and harmonize on their first attempt. Hatori runs into Aono at the tuck shop and introduces him to Hime and another second year. Aono realizes that the second years are not as intimidating as he thought.
Saeki and Aono practice together and can now harmonize, delighting them. Hatori sees their performance, is impressed, and is convinced that the auditions will be exciting.
